Must have worked at least 1-2 years in the trailer/advertising industry in the finishing department of a trailer house or post house.

ABOUT THE JOB:

A successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, quick-thinking, flexible, able to pivot when necessary, thorough, and able to juggle multiple and diverse responsibilities. He/she should have a strong emphasis on organization, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. This position requires someone who is proactive, a positive thinker, an effective communicator, and has the ability to exercise good judgment and initiative.
He/she will work closely with clients, ensuring that all projects are finished, QCed, exported to spec, prepped and delivered efficiently, accurately, and on time. He/she will also be responsible for coordinating with Creative Directors, Producers, Graphic Designers, Audio Engineers, Editors, and Assistant Editors. This candidate should have a long-term interest in post-production and finishing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience as a professional Assistant Editor.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Google Drive, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, small team environment.
- Organized, diligent, and extremely detail-oriented.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent at managing time and planning accordingly to meet tight deadlines.
- Understanding of frame rates (23.98p, 29.97p, 29.97i, 59.94p, etc.), timecode (drop frame, non-drop frame), aspect ratios (1.33, 1.78, 1.85, 2.39), resolutions (1280x720, 1920x1080, 2K, 4K).
- Understanding of audio bit depth (16bit, 24bit), sample rate (44.1kHz, 48kHz), codecs (AAC, Linear PCM), common track layouts (stereo, 5.1, split), and audio formats (WAV, AIF, mp3, m4a).
- Knowledge of various audio specs such as Stereo Mix, 5.1 Mix, DME splits, and CALM compliant.
- Knowledge of digital video codecs including ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 4444, H.264, DNxHD, Photo JPEG and bit rates (ex: 6Mbit/s vs 100Mbit/s).
- General understanding of basic editing concepts and color grading.
- Experience with video conversion tools (QuickTime Pro, Adobe Media Encoder, Handbrake) and understanding of the .mov and .mp4 wrappers.
- Understanding of basic editing concepts/creative editorial.
- Familiarity with FTP sites like Box, Wiredrive, Aspera, etc.
- Experience in Finishing and Localization of both Theatrical and Streaming marketing projects
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cutting in graphics, audio tracks, and adding subtitles
- Coordinating with marketing directors on deadlines and delegating necessary tasks to the appropriate department.
- Reading and comprehending finishing memos and deliverable spec sheets, and creating final documents.
- Prepping approved spots for out-of-house finish by exporting AAF’s, EDL’s, QuickTime references, OMF’s, XML’s, etc.
- Requesting finishing assets from our graphic designers, audio mixers, and AEs.
- Checking the QuickTime reference against the cut twice.
- Performing quality control on all final slates, video footage, graphics, and audio tracks.
- Removing any flash frames or effect errors, and multiple watch downs.
- Flagging any issues to the Creative Directors and/or Producers.
- Creating and supplying clients with finishing documents, including music cue sheets, dialogue scripts, close captioning files, etc.
- Managing files onto a centralized server.
- Archiving projects onto LTO tapes.
